Cross of Santa Brígida

Logo of Sítio dos Anjos Association. Know a little of its history and its meaning as our association's logo.

Saint Brígida is the patron saint of Ireland along with Saint Patrick and Saint Columba. He dedicated his life to the call of God by becoming a nun. His life was marked by charity and compassion for the poor. The story goes that a pagan chief when he was on his deathbed asked them to call Santa Brígida so that she could pray for him. Santa Brígida harvested a bundle of reeds and wove a cross blessing the sick. Your party is celebrated on February 1st. Today it is customary to weave your cross, which, after being blessed by a priest, hang it on the door of your home to protect the inhabitants from the evil energies.

At the Vila Prudente Cultural Center (CCVP) the Santa Brígida cross is made of recycled newspaper paper contributing to environmental education.

By purchasing the Santa Brígida cross produced at CCVP and sold at Sitio dos Anjos, you help maintain our work and promote a better world for our children and adolescents.

Help and spread our initiative!
